In 2007 AMURTEL opened an afterschool center in the rural village of Panatau to assist twenty-five of the poorest children who were malnourished and could not concentrate properly at school.

The center provides a hot noon meal, homework support, computer classes and extracurricular activities, giving these children the attention they deserve. The children are selected by a social worker working in collaboration with the local primary school.
