AMURT provides maternal health services to rural communities in Ebonyi State to help reduce Nigeria's maternal mortality rate, the second highest in the world. The program trains skilled birth attendants in safe delivery methods for both normal and complicated births. AMURT also organizes home visits to every woman as well as outreach educational programs, encouraging women to start delivering with the skilled birth attendants in the new clinics we support. In the past three years we have had over 400 safe births in the three clinics with twenty critical births ending favorably for mother and baby.
