Almost 50% of mothers infected with HIV pass the virus to their children while breastfeeding. Many women are too poor to afford cow's milk or infant formula and have to gamble with their own milk. AMURT protects children in the Nairobi slums by educating mothers about HIV and providing them with milk for their babies.
